Amjad Kadhim
Consultant Barrister

Year of Call: 2018

Amjad was very patient in taking his time to fully explain the problems that we faced and was more than happy to take the time to make sure I understood the process that we had to go through. I would highly recommend Amjad, I could not of been happier with his representation. He helped me regain a relationship with my son which I can never put a price or value on.

  • Amjad was called to the Bar in 2018 and joined Unit Chambers as a Consultant Barrister in November 2021 following the completion of a 12-month pupillage at Unit Chambers under the supervision of Lisa Edmunds. Throughout his pupillage, Amjad has stood out as a bright, empathetic, and confident advocate with outstanding skills in legal research, drafting, and the presentation of complex legal and factual arguments.

  • Since joining Unit Chambers as a Consultant Barrister, Amjad has developed a busy practice in both public and private children law representing local authorities, parents, intervenors and guardians. Amjad often accepts instructions for cases involving a wide spectrum of issues such as neglect, non- accidental injuries, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, alcohol and substance misuse and honour-based abuse.

  • Amjad has a natural ability to support clients, build a strong rapport, and a good working relationship with them. Amjad ensures that excellent client care is at the heart of his decision-making and works tirelessly to ensure the best possible results for his clients. He has a proven ability to listen to and relate with clients from different backgrounds. Amjad is a team player at Unit Chambers and regularly contributes to the internal ‘Education Hour’ sessions as well as writing articles for chambers and delivering presentations to solicitors through Unit Chambers’ workshops.

  • Amjad is direct access qualified and is therefore, able to receive instructions from members of the public.

Through the Direct Access Scheme, barristers provide tailored expertise at a lower cost due to their self-employed status. Fixed fees are agreed upfront, ensuring budget control.

Barristers’ roles mirror those under solicitor instruction – offering advice, representation and document drafting. Most cases can be managed under this scheme, though some may require solicitor involvement.

Unit Chambers eases the challenges of cases involving children, prioritising clear communication and understanding. While we don’t handle administrative aspects like court document delivery, we guide and support clients. Our fee structure is transparent with upfront agreements.
